Rd 10 Preview

With the first half of the season behind us teams are beginning to play one another for the second time this season.

The Roosters Black Diamond Plate and Women’s competition will compete against Muswellbrook Cats and the Reserves will be up against Nelson Bay Marlins.

The Rooster last met Muswellbrook in round 4 and the Roosters took out both games comfortably that day. The Roosterette’s created history having record their first ever win, defeating the Cats by 63 point. In the Black Diamond Plate, the Rooster’s had to work hard to overcome the relentless Cats however the Roosters were too good on the day and took out the Nathan Duncan memorial shield by 39pts.

This week the Roosters are confident that they can repeat their performance and win both games against Muswellbrook.

The Reserves will host the Nelson Bay Marlins. With the larger BDAFL reserve competition this will be the first time the two sides have met. To keep the top 5 finals hope alive, the Roosters will need to win here on Saturday. They will have a strong home ground advantage against the Marlins who have a 2 hour drive to Singleton for the early 10am game.

There will be a milestone within the Roosters on Saturday. Luke Davis, aka Elmo, will be playing his 100th senior club game. The former club best and fairest is known for his lack of respect for his body, doing everything he can across the backline for the Roosters. Rumours have it he could be moved up forward this week. Look for him to be adding points for the Roosters.

10am Reserves.  Singleton vs Nelson Bay

12pm Women’s.  Singleton vs Muswellbrook

2pm Black Diamond Plate. Singleton vs Muswellbrook

There is much more going on than footy on Saturday. The Roosters will be recognising their sponsors for their support this season. The Roosters also say farewell to Micky Dawe, the only Rooster to record over 200 club games. It’s also MND big freeze day where the players will be wearing supporting socks to support Motor Neuron Disease, and following the game there is the Ipod shuffle function at the club rooms.
