Singleton AFC held its Annual General Meeting last Thursday, the 12th of October & has elected its new Committee as follows:
President: Nadene McBride
Senior Vice President: Joel Deacon
Junior Vice President: Andrew Thornberry
Treasurer: Dayna Rohan
Secretary: Mitchell Gaffney
Committee Members: Paul Chandler, Peter (Jason) Kolatchew, Jake Mellon & Paul Kelly
The new committee welcomes Mitch to the position of Secretary & looks forward to continuing to build on the foundations laid in 2017. Additional office bearer positions will be explored by the committee over the coming weeks, with plenty of other ways for you to get involved with the running of our club & its events. Presidents’ & financial reports were also tabled at the AGM, & changes to the constitution voted on last year (regarding life membership criteria) were ratified. A copy of the updated constitution will be placed on the website in the coming weeks.
A key update provided at the AGM was the AFL NSW/ACT draft proposals for the future structure of the junior & senior leagues for 2018 & beyond. These draft proposals, if adopted, would represent a significant change to the football operating environment as we know it &, therefore, it is important to provide as much information to our members as possible on what these changes could mean to our club & the leagues we operate within. To discuss these draft proposals, it was resolved at the AGM to hold a Special General Meeting open to all club members to present this information, give members an opportunity to ask questions & allow the committee to collate feedback to provide to AFL NSW/ACT ahead of them finalising these proposals for all clubs to decide upon. BDAFL Operations Manager Garry Burkinshaw & President Wal Bembic will be in attendance to give feedback from the BDAFL perspective on these draft proposals. All club members are encouraged to attend & participate at this meeting, to be held:
Date: Thursday, 19th October
Time: 5.30pm sharp
Location: Singleton AFC Clubrooms
Looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible on Thursday & also to start planning for a big 2018 season.
