Its “old boys” round this weekend. We will be catch up with many of our honour board greats and spinning a yarn to two. The players feel privilege to run out onto the “Chook Pen” in front of you all and will continue to wear the red and white jersey with pride. With one round remaining, this will be our last home game of the season. The mighty Roosters are close to be having a mens and womens team progress to finals for the first time.
Club veteran Hyph gets another chance this week to celebrate his milestone, after missing out last week following Gosford’s forfeit. It will be an emotion one for him when he puts his beloved jersey on for his 150th time. His pride for the club in second to none, even branding himself with a miss spelt tattoo.
Our women have an epic task against Nelson Bay this weekend. No team has been able to beat them this year with them having solid wins against their rivals. Our home ground advantage has allowed us to have a full playing squad and a strong 22 has been selected to get the job done. Also important to us this week will be the score line, with for and against points only separating us and Warners Bay. We currently sit in 7th and are looking to hold that spot to progress to finals, a great result in only our 3rd year of competition.
First grade are traveling well and have already secured a spot in the finals. A win here against Nelson Bay will secure a 4th or 5th spot on the ladder and will most likely see us lining up against Warners Bay in the first Semis.
