Donald Hornby- Waring aka Hyphen finally got to play his 150th game yesterday and with a big smile he lead the Roosters out onto the ground. Hyph was one of the best on the day, bagging himself 2 goals and celebrating his milestone with a 27 point victory over Nelson Bay.
Hyph has been associated with the club since the 2006 men’s team re-entered the BDAFL following the devastating club house fire of 1996. He created a strong bond within the playing group and was the founder of the “Roosters Dominate” war cry that has become so well known over the years. The former captain has been with the Roosters through the thick and thin, being a part of the Roosters success in premierships and when the team needed him the most in the challenging 2007 floods. His local business the Singleton Auto Wreckers has sponsored the Roosters over many years, and his weekly support of the club room bar is second to none!
Hyph is the ultimate club man, anyone who has had a great night spent in his bar at home would have had the pleasure of seeing wall to wall red, a Roosters mural and a pool room drenched in club memorabilia as a tribute to his much loved club. He has our club mascot etched in the skin on his back, an accurate representation of his life long passion and commitment to the Roosters. Congrats on your 150th mate, we look forward to seeing you around for another hundred.
