Clean Sweep for the Old Boys

It couldn’t have been a better result for the Roosters yesterday with a clean sweep over Nelson Bay in front of our clubs “old boys”.

Plate kicked of the day and were lead out of the sheds by the great man Sir Donald Hyph in is 150th senior game, the team got the job done with a 27 point victory. There were multiple goal scorers, D. Tracey (3), D. Hornby-Waring (2) and B. Partridge (2), with old boy C Oldham nailing one for the crowd. D. Hornby-Waring starred in his milestone game with H. Smith, C. Smith, D. Tracey, J. Deacon, B. Partridge also named in the best.

The Roosterettes are in top form and have backed up last weeks victory with a come from behind win against the comp leaders. In a low scoring affair the Roosterette’s could only manage 1 point in the first half.  In a great show of heart the team kept clawing their way closer and in the final 10 minutes the Roosterettes put 3 unanswered goals (J. Moody, E. Mitchell and B. Howard) on the board to knock off the comps leaders, giving them their second loss of the season. The Roosterettes are only one win away from finals for the first time, which is a massive achievement in their 3rd competitive year. Final scores Singleton 4.4-28 defeated Nelson Bay 2.4-16.

First grade were dominant victors over Nelson Bay in a nice lead up to finals. The team shared the ball around resulting in many goal scorers in their 122 point victory. A captains performance by Chiz lead the day with 3 goals. The men have a bye this coming week and will use the week off to master the game plan for the first semi final in a fortnight.
