St Catherine’s commence campaign at Spotless Stadium

UP THERE FOR SINGLETON: The St Catherine’s Catholic College AFL side pictured at Sydney’s Spotless Stadium this morning.

St Catherine’s Catholic College students, staff and parents will be scattered around Sydney today in support of their school’s successful junior rugby and AFL sides.

The College’s Rugby 10s team defeated Adamstown 49-0 in the decider of the Chris Gangemi Shield Hunter Finals last month.

As a result the talented line-up will now play off at the NSW CPS Rugby knockout tournament.

St Catherine’s are currently leading Forbes in their opening match at St Joseph’s College Sporting Fields before facing Terrigal (10:15am) and Nowra (11:05am).

RUGBY TALENTS: St Catherine’s has already celebrated a 19-17 victory over Forbes after a dominant 19-0 first half.

The finals will take place at 1:10pm.

MEANWHILE the St Catherine’s girls under-12 AFL side will play off against Bishop Druitt College (10am), St John the Baptist – Woy Woy (11am) and Wilkins (12pm) for the state finals of the Paul Kelly Cup at Spotless Stadium.

The Singleton school secured a second straight Hunter regional final victory at the Paul Kelly Cup tournament in June after defeating Biddabah 9.6 (60) to 1.1 (7) before keeping both Tomaree and Dudley scoreless in their respective 82-point and 51-point victories.
